Red, Reversed Flag Tshirt with small Beyond 214 logo and J.S. Mills Quote on the back:
"A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."
Why the reversed flag?
The reverse flag dates back to the Army's early history when both cavalry and infantry units would charge ahead as the Stars and Stripes streamed back. Today, the reverse flag is worn on the right sleeve of military uniforms and symbolizes the courage and respect of those who serve.
Department of Defense regulation states that when authorized for application to the proper uniform the American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that “the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward. The appropriate replica for the right shoulder sleeve is identified as the ‘reverse side flag'."
